Introduction: This one-day refresher training builds on your supervisory skills by re-visiting and extending some key models and principles of effective supervision practice. In this course we will:
- deepen our understanding of reflective practice in supervision, including what facilitates or inhibits reflection
- practice crafting questions to help supervisees get to the answer themselves
- consider how to respond to the different needs of supervisees, choosing approaches that best fit the scenario presented.
- unpack some common dilemmas that present in supervision and discuss a simple process to help supervisees resolve challenging issues
- review of your own supervision practice and identify next steps in your learning journey.
Participants: This course is suited to those who have previously completed an introductory supervision training course, have had some experience supervising and wish to refresh their skills. An opportunity will also be provided to explore particular issues participants bring.
Format: The workshop will involve mixed teaching methods, including informational presentation, large and small group discussion, small group practice.
